Christy Lane is a Venture Partner at IA Capital. Christy is a Co-Founder of FLORA, where she is building the first D2C fertility insurance product on the market. From time to time, Christy advises portfolio company in several areas related to developing its data product and penetrating the life insurance vertical. With deep domain expertise in data analytics, wearable devices, health and exercise science, modeling mortality risk, and wellness and lifestyle-based customer engagement initiatives, Christy helps IA Capital to advance its investment thesis in the space. She is an award-winning exercise scientist with expertise in big data, wearable devices, and lifestyle medicine. Currently, she is a Visiting Associate Professor in Orthopaedics at Stanford University. Christy is also a founding member of the Stanford Wearable Health Lab, Chair and Associate Professor of Health and Physical Education at Mount Royal University. Christy was named to Avenue Magazine - Calgary’s 2018 Top 40 Under 40 list, and also won the 2018 Quesnay Female Founders of Insurtech contest. She has a PhD in Rehabilitation Medicine from the University of Alberta, as well as an MSc in Exercise Physiology from Western University. Christy completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Michigan. She is the Founder of Vivametrica, an insurtech company that uses data from wearable devices to predict mortality and disease risks, as well as to engage individuals in wellness.
